Public Education: An Autopsy

by Myron Lieberman

Mr. Lieberman argues that many dynamics in our society point toward the death of public support for government-run schools. His chapters on the inability of the media to inform consumers about education issues are very thought-provoking. He also provides an interesting analysis of "conservative" and "liberal" in the "public education" context (p.314). Altogether, however, the book is stronger on identifying the factors working against public schools than in suggesting either how they can be improved or how we can move to a some other system which he might prefer.
